In today’s episode, John talks about perfection – and how trying too hard to achieve it can hinder you and your business’ growth.

NOBODY’S PERFECT

No one person is perfect. we all have flaws, faults and failings. And the “perfect” people you want to emulate are no different. You see, there ‘s really no such thing as perfection in business. And by trying to be so,  you’re setting yourself up for a complete disaster.

GETTING OVER YOUR ‘PERFECTIONITIS’

From a business perspective, the obsession for perfection is an absolute killer. This is something that every small business owner that I’ve ever met just needs to accept. Now, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t have high standards or expectations of yourself, your team and your business because, well, in fact you should. But those same standards and expectations should also be achievable.

SET REALISTIC PARAMETERS

Stop holding yourself back. Striving for perfection in your business doesn’t make you a better business person. But what it does do is keep you stuck with the negative, “I can’t do anything right”, “I can’t meet my impossibly high standards” negative mind set. And that keeps you from ever achieving your ultimate success goals. So instead of constantly setting unrealistic expectations and ridiculously high standards, why not just come back down the earth and rethink what parameters that you can actually work within.

And in fact probably being a bit of a voyeur keeping up to speed of what you are online peers or actually doing. Wanted to be just like them, Perfect. Oh, you can’t, and why? Because , it’s an impossibility. No one person is perfect, we all have flaws, faults and failings. And these people you want to emulate are no different.

Now I’m not saying you can’t be awesome in your own right , no I think we can all be awesome. Because that’s something you can definitely achieve. But first you have to get over your illness of perfectionitis. From a business perspective, it’s an absolute killer. This is something that every small business owner that I’ve ever met just needs to accept.

But those same standards and expectations should also be achievable. Stop holding yourself back. Striving for perfection in your business doesn’t make you a better business person. But what it does to, is keep you stuck within negative,” I can’t do anything right”, I can’t meet my impossibly high standards” negative mind set – And that keeps you from ever achieving your ultimate success goals. So instead of constantly setting unrealistic expectations and ridiculously high standards, why not just come back down the earth and rethink what parameters that you can actually work within. And what is truly realistic as far as your expectations and standards are concerned.

This has been John Millar the naked business coach giving you something that strip back to the very simple basics, a bite size bit of information that you can take away, ponder and use on your business. Work hard, play hard, and I’ll see you on the flip side.
