In today’s podcast, John takes us through the attitudes of a great team member. These attitudes should be looked on as signs to gauge the potential of a new or a current team member in your business.

PROACTIVENESS

One of the things that you can look for is that they actually want to see your business grow, and they’ll be proactive about helping you and your business to actually do it. They ask to attend external training for the business so that they can be better in what they do, and be able to support your goals.

TEAM PLAYER

When you’ve come to the recruiting stage, many good team members offer to come back and work free to earn the job – which is not a bad thing.  They certainly don’t spread gossip about other team members or you the business owner. They welcome new team members in a very friendly manner and keep that manner until the person works into the team or until they leave.

POSITIVE ATTITUDE

A great team member will help support the leader, not to sabotage them. They always talk positively about ideas, concepts, and people. They will always greet customers and other team members in a very friendly manner and do more than they’re asked to do and contribute to the business without being asked. A good team member often has a happy disposition with positive outlooks. And they treat the business as if it’s their very own.

Remember that fabulous saying says, “There is no I in team“, and team is an acronym for Together Everyone Achieves More.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL

Jason Allen, Lindale Insurances:

Hi, I’m Jason Allen. We run the business Roy A McDonald Lindale Insurances. We’re accountants and financial planners and we’ve been around since 1965. I actually started with John in 2013 March, however, I’ve known John since 2011 and I found his concepts and ideas are amazing.

So what we found is a biggest pain and a biggest concern is that when I started here, the phone wasn’t ringing and the results weren’t happening and the fact that the business is sort of either going sideways or downwards. And with John’s help, we’ve actually been able to increase that to a result of around 25% increase profit, which is excellent result.

Why someone would want to use John and get coaching off John is that he doesn’t take off the shelf options. He tailors each program to each individual person. And as a result of doing that, they get a tailored result and they get an opportunity to have coaching that suits their needs and their pain.

One of the other things that I was going to say is that he has coached all types of businesses as well. So he has coached many accounting and financial planning businesses, but he’s also coached anything from manufacturing-type businesses, through to your mom-and-dad building and that type of business, so very good from that prospective so I highly recommend John. And not only that, he’s a very nice person as well so that makes him easy to deal with.

Title: Attitudes of Great Team Members

Date Published: September 9, 2015

Running Time: 05:48 minutes

Hi, this is John Millar, the Naked Business Coach, stripping business back to the bare basics. In today’s podcast I’m going to take you through the attitudes of a great team member.

Now these attitudes can be demonstrated by people and should be looked on as signs to gauge the potential of a new or a current team member in your business. In fact, the more that they can show this, the better.

One of the things that you can look for is that they actually want to see your business grow, and they’ll be proactive about helping you and your business to actually do it. They’ll often work back when you ask them to without even grumbling or carrying on, unless they’ve actually got something truly important. Great team members often ask you to attend external training for the business so that they can be better in what they do, and be able to support your goals. And in fact, many great team members will even offer to pay for it.

When you’ve come to the recruiting stage, many good team members offer to come back and work free to earn the job – which is not a bad thing. This happens quite often in many countries where people have an intern.

A great team member will agree to new ideas and strategies in a very positive way, not just find reasons why they don’t work. They certainly don’t spread gossip about other team members or you the business owner. They don’t talk about another person without that person being there. They always talk positively about ideas, concepts, and people. And they work hard on themselves to improve themselves.

A great team member will help support the leader, not to sabotage them, and they want to become leaders themselves and not just act like a victim. They will always greet customers and other team members in a very friendly manner. They welcome new team members in a very friendly manner and keep that manner until the person works into the team or until they leave. They do more than they’re asked to do and contribute to the business without being asked. And they see a future in the business and would actively like to see it grow. They will always endeavor to speak the truth, and they will talk to you or their manager about issues or queries or questions about the business or other team members in an honest and non-exaggerated way.

A good team member often has a happy disposition with positive outlooks. And they treat the business as if it’s their very own. They’re always happy to set goals and strive for them. Invite your current team members to step up to higher standards, and expect more from them than they do for themselves. Remember that fabulous saying says, “There is no I in team“, and team is an acronym for Together Everyone Achieves More.
